I changed the title of my recent blog to "Why Simple Or Overly Complicated Solutions Often Don't Work Well for Complex Systems" because from the comments I’ve been getting on the blog I realize that there is a disconnect between the meaning of “complicated” in Gall’s Law and how complicated is viewed in the Agile industry based on Cynefin. But I also realize that the point of the blog was not clear enough. The choices are not between a simple solution or a complicated one (in this sense I mean hard to grasp). A third choice lies in the middle – that of a series of simple steps – each step being straightforward.
There is, of course, some complexity in how one decides what the steps are. But to those undertaking the steps, they are relatively simple.
