Change is a journey for an organization. The bigger the change, the more the transition needs to be carefully thought through. This half-day course is intended for management and leads as they prepare to transition their organization to Lean-Agile / Kanban. It covers the essential issues in developing an effective transition plan based on frameworks of William Bridges, John Kotter, and the Heath brothers. This course is heavy on interaction and discussion focused on beginning to develop the plan. Follow-on coaching to develop the plan is also included. In this course, attendees will gain the vocabulary and frameworks required for effective change. They will develop an initial transition plan to begin the change. There is ample time to discuss change efforts and discuss how to improve what is being done.

The objectives of this course include:

  • Give leaders a vocabulary for change
  • Understand the essential phases and steps for effective change
  • Develop an initial transition plan to begin change
  • Assess current change efforts and discuss how to improve what is being done

In this course, you will have the opportunity to use several frameworks for change to see new ways to improve what you already do well. After attending this course the learner will be able to:

  • Describe frameworks for change based on Managing Transition (William Bridges), The Heart of Change (John Kotter) and Switch (Heath brothers)
  • Describe the three phases of change and eight steps for implementing change
  • Describe why it is important to focus on behavior when planning change
  • Assess the organization's readiness for transition
  • Create a draft of a one minute speech that communicates emotionally the change being considered
  • Describe the roles of a Guidance team and a Transition Monitoring Team and decide whether and how to use them
