Seminar: Transition Testing: Cornerstone of Database Agility
Test-driven development is a powerful tool that helps us translate requirements into specifications and specifications into working code. Many organizations find that, notwithstanding the elimination of rework, there is a significant gain in velocity introduced by driving their development efforts to tests.
Today, most of the community regards test-driven development to be crucial to Agility and, as a result, many practices have formed around the discipline. However, there is an obstacle to that prevents many of these practices from really taking hold in the database world: data. Databases are living, breathing objects with long life spans and this changes the forces slightly.
This talk covers the basics of transition testing, a technique that stabilizes database development. With transition testing in place, data ceases to be an impediment which holds back development and becomes an asset, adding value to your organization and further informing design.
