Leading SAFe™ with Net Objectives Extensions

NOTE: the venue for this course has changed. Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause.

This 3-day course extends the standard Leading SAFe™ course with 7 topics.

The Leading SAFe™ courses provide the knowledge necessary to lead an enterprise agile transformation by leveraging the Scaled Agile Framework, with its underlying principles of lean thinking, and product development flow. You will leave with an understanding of how the principles and practices of the framework support Lean Thinking, Agile Development, SAFe ScrumXP, Agile Release Train, Agile Portfolio Management, Agile Architecture, and Scaling Leadership.

SAFe™ is a framework, intended as a starting point in the transition to effective Agile at scale. For many organizations, especially those with teams that must be shared across trains (e.g., database teams), SAFe needs to be extended right from the beginning. This course provides an additional day to cover those topics we’ve seen to be most helpful both to decide whether one should adopt SAFe and to actually implement it.

This 3-day course extends the standard Leading SAFe™ course with 7 topics.

  1. the importance of systems thinking in Scaled Agile
  2. additional practices on the role of the product manager
  3. using Kanban to incorporate shared services and dev-ops into SAFe™
  4. how to create teams when it doesn't look possible
  5. the use of Minimum Business Increments (MBIs) and Lean-Startup concepts in SAFe™
  6. going beyond practices - achieving outcomes
  7. a discussion of the enterprise portfolio and when to start there

Leading SAFe™ with Net Objectives Extensions is designed for those evaluating SAFe™ for their organization or for those wanting to learn more about SAFe™ and how it can solve the challenges shared services teams and dev-ops provide. This course is taught by Al Shalloway, an SPC trainer/thought leader, and Lean/Kanban thought leader.

Note: This course is an excellent course to bring in-house where discussions on how SAFe™ would be implemented can also be included.
