Play games • Have fun • Get actionable results

Games for Democracy is using Innovation Games as a community engagement framework.  We want to educate people working in the public sector how to use Innovation Games to engage the public in a more meaningful way. Net Objectives is hosting this course to support what we feel is a good cause.

Serious games draw on a large body of behavioral and cognitive research that proves their effectiveness in creating rich and enjoyable learning experiences that tap collective wisdom and produce actionable results. Serious games are at the heart of the "government 2.0" movement and are being funded by the European Union to tackle a variety of issues affecting complex constituencies. Serious games and collaborative play have found wide application in business from managing work teams to conducting market research.

Innovation Games is the most mature serious games offering in the US, with a proven track record of solving a wide range of strategic, prioritization, resource allocation, and communication problems. They have been successfully applied in numerous organizations worldwide, including Google, SAP, and SDForum, a Silicon Valley not-for-profit organization that is a leading source of unbiased information and insight for the technology community.

Innovation Games have both online and in-person versions, and can be modified or "hacked" for specific purposes. The games can be played with customers and clients, colleagues and coworkers, partners, and the community-at-large. The techniques include both open-ended and more focused methods to achieve actionable insights and results.

In this introductory workshop you will receive an overview of how to leverage the Innovation Games methodology, and in-person and online tools, to address issues that require an ongoing engagement in seeking agreements, including:

  • Facilitating consensus-building
  • Creating strategic plans
  • Receiving and prioritizing input from stakeholders
  • Understanding areas for improvement
  • Networking and relationship building
  • AND having fun doing it

Who should attend:
Managers, team leaders, project managers who work with public causes or have public participation mandates
Employees of municipal and regional governments, NGOs, and not-for-profit organizations
Anyone interested in learning how to apply the Innovation Games process and tools to further their organizational goals

Special Introductory Price: Suggested $265/person price was changed to a "Pay As You Will" model.
